A Note from Jim Trelease on
Computerized Reading Incentive
Programs
ver the last decade, I have written and spoken about computerized
school and library programs like Accelerated
Reader and Reading
Counts. My remarks have been both positive
and negative, depending on how they were used or abused.
Increasingly in recent years I've seen more negatives
than positives, mostly by the way school districts misuse
the programs. My exploration of the various issues can
be found here
at my Web site in an excerpt from the
6th edition of The Read-Aloud Handbook.
